Lefkas is an astonishingly beautiful island! Timeless villages nestled in lush pine forests and wild olive groves, breath-taking mountainous landscapes and sheer white rocks attract visitors from all over the world. The gorgeous beaches and white rocky shoreline of the west coast will steal your hearts. The beaches of Porto Katsiki and Eggremnoi with their white and azure waters are a must see. Visiting by land before or after your sailing trip is the best way to appreciate their majesty!

We aim to embark by 5pm and set sail to Meganisi, 1.5 hours away. Meganissi is a small paradise with a highly indented coastline! Vathy is the most picturesque village and an ideal spot for the night. Head for breakfast to the hilltop village of Spartochori to enjoy the views. Dive into the refreshing waters of the numerous coves surrounding the island. For the more adventurous, try hiking through spectacular green landscapes to abandoned old churches and small settlements.

Kalamos is a mountainous, forested island with a rocky coastline and pebbled beaches with heavenly waters! No more than 500 people live here permanently. On your way there, stop for a swim at the numerous rocky spots at the north-east side of the island. Kalamos has a unique rural atmosphere and you will truly feel like going back in time. Wander around the stone-built houses and talk to the locals about the old times and life on the island.

Kastos is a small tranquil paradise of unspoilt beauty. An ideal destination for anyone looking to experience a simple way of life and completely switch off. Explore the island’s sandy and pebbled beaches and the numerous hidden rocky bays with transparent azure waters, most of which are only accessible by boat.

Rugged, romantic and historic; this is Ithaki, the homeland to which Odysseus struggled to return for 10 heroic years, inspiring Homer to write the Odyssey epic! The island charms its visitors with its ancient ruins, breath-taking landscapes, picturesque villages and genuine hospitality.

The village of Kioni is very attractive, with colourful houses tucked into the forested mountain slopes ending in the deep blue waters of the bay. Walk the 3km path to the 3 derelict windmills at the southern end of the bay to enjoy the stunning views. Taste the local cuisine in one of the wonderful tavernas at the harbour.

Ithaki deserves a second day for exploration. Take the chance to sail to some of the numerous swimming spots around the island. Whether sandy or pebbled, rocky or forested, busy or peaceful, you will fall in love with their gorgeous waters. Vathy is the island’s capital and an incredibly picturesque town! Take your time to admire the distinct local architecture. Rent a car and drive up the narrow isthmus to explore the delightful villages and enjoy the breath-taking views along the way.

Kefalonia is an ideal destination to relax. Its lush, mountainous landscapes and rugged coastline offer extremely rewarding views. The beautiful sea-front villages have preserved much of their original Venetian architecture, despite the devastating earthquakes that have shattered the island.

Sami is a beautiful coastal town with an attractive waterfront, wide paved streets and charming Venetian-style building. Nature generously offered it beautiful lakes and underground caves and renting a car is the best way to explore the area. Start with the Melissani Cave and continue to the spectacular Myrtos beach, which is consistently ranked among the most beautiful in the world! Then head towards the picturesque Asos village, built around the homonymous peninsula.

Fiskardo is a picturesque and cosmopolitan village with pastel-coloured Venetian-style houses surrounding a gorgeous natural harbour. It is a major sailing port and extremely popular for all sailors and yachties in the summer months. Take an evening stroll around the delightful waterfront among celebrities and enjoy the views of the anchored boats and the cosmopolitan atmosphere. There is a great selection of fine-dining and traditional restaurants offering delicious dishes, and the smell of grilled seafood dominates the air. There are also plenty of bars where you can get a drink, have fun and relax.

The return trip from Fiskardo to Lefkas marina lasts about 4 hours. There are plenty of swimming spots along the way such as the stunning beaches of Porto Katsiki and Eggremnoi with their white-azure waters, the bay of Sivota, Scorpios island and Paleros beach. You should be back at the marina by 8 pm, which will give you plenty of time to relax at the marina or venture off to Lefkas town.

Our recommended way to visit the area is by land, while at Lefkas, before or after your sailing holiday. If you feel like sailing there, it takes between 1.5-2 hours to reach from Fiskardo.

Time to say goodbye. Until next time, of course! Check-out is by 9am on the Saturday; if needed this can be done Friday evening, according to your plans.
