OUR JOURNEY IN DETAIL

SAT: ATHENS & SOUNIO

Athens is a fascinating city, a vibrant metropolis that is both historical and modern. Hike up to the Acropolis and visit the Pnyx, one of the most important sites in the creation of democracy. Wander through the ancient Agora, the Hephaestus temple, the churches of Plaka and the open markets of Monastiraki and Thisseio. Visit the spectacular new Acropolis museum and venture off to the suburbs to feel the city like a true Athenian. Enjoy the Athens riviera with its chic cafes, boutiques and nightlife, stretching for over 20km from Piraeus to Vouliagmeni.

We aim to embark by 5pm and set sail to Sounio, 3.5 hours away. The “Kolones” bay is a great spot to swim during the day and stay overnight and to admire the Ancient Greek temple of Poseidon, sitting atop the cape. The two tavernas ashore offer fresh fish food and amazing setting with captivating views of the temple.

SUN: KYTHNOS

Kythnos is a 3-4 hour sail from Sounio and is among the least touristic islands in the Cyclades. Today’s destination is Loutra bay, a picturesque harbour on the north east. Its name means “baths” and is associated with the thermal springs of the area. The main village is a 10’ bus ride from Loutra. With its narrow streets, white houses and churches, it is the best introduction to the typical Cycladic architecture. You will find an excellent choice of tavernas for dining. Try the delicious local sausages, kopanisti, sfouggato and kokkinisto meat, accompanied by the local ‘thermiotiko’ wine.

MON: SYROS

Grammata bay at the north tip of Syros is one of our favourite spots in the Cyclades! The bay is only accessible by boat and the nearest village is a 40’ hike through a small path starting at the beach. Here you can enjoy a full day of swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise water, enjoy the beach with its beautiful setting and relax on board surrounded by the smell of thyme and oregano that dominates the atmosphere. The bay is an ideal place to spend the night and cook dinner on board, try a night swim, gaze at the stars and enjoy the silence and the sounds of nature. Alternatively, if you prefer a different setting call a taxi to meet you at the nearest village, so you can visit Syros’ capital, the majestic Ermoupolis.

TUE: MYKONOS

Cosmopolitan, sparkling, chic, provocative, glamourous. This is Mykonos, Greece’s most famous island, a whitewashed paradise in the middle of the Cyclades. Mykonos is a summer destination to suit all tastes; for students, families, honeymooners, party animals, LGBTs, it is up to each visitor to get what they please and the island will certainly fulfil all expectations.

For your first evening visit the vibrant Mykonos town (Hora). With its labyrinth-like streets, white houses with colourful windows, bougainvillea covered balconies and lively waterfront, the town is the perfect introduction to the island’s distinct atmosphere. Do not miss the windmills and the Little Venice area for amazing sunset views. Experience the formidable dining scene ranging from cosy tavernas to extravagant fusion fish food restaurants. There are plenty of options for drinks and partying until the morning hours.

WED: MYKONOS

There is a very rich beach scene in Mykonos and numerous activities for your second day here. The best way to experience Mykonos is by private transport, which we can arrange in advance. The liveliest places (and parties) are in the south coast, while the north remains (almost) untouched. The natural beauty of the island’s coastline is impressive!

Start with a swim at the beautiful Kalo Livadi or Kalafati beach, with plenty of water sports options. Alternatively, the long white sand of Elia is perfect for families. Head towards the gorgeous Paragka beach with its chic clubs or to Paradise and Super Paradise for a more intense party experience. Psarrou beach with its abundant superyachts is the ultimate see-and-be-seen destination. Alemagou in the north is an elegant beach club throwing amazing full moon parties.

THU: PAROS - NAOUSA

Paros has it all; unrivalled natural beauty, amazing sandy beaches, picturesque villages and an exciting nightlife. No wonder why it is one of the most loved destinations in the Cyclades. Naousa is an incredibly picturesque and popular fishing harbour. Strolling around town after sunset is the perfect way to discover the beauty of this place. There are many designer tavernas offering the catch of the day and we have excellent choices to recommend. Following dinner, there are numerous options for a drink at the nearby bars. Nightlife in Naousa doesn’t end early and you can easily get carried away until the early morning hours.

FRI: NAXOS

Naxos’ rich history, tranquil mountain villages and gorgeous beaches have recently made it into various travel magazines around the world. Upon your arrival, you will notice the magnificent 2500 years old entrance of the Apollo temple.

Discover the long, sandy beaches or head to the villages of Apeiranthos, Chalkio and Keramoti at the lush green highlands. For the more adventurous, hike to the top of mountain Zeus, which the ancient Greeks believed to be the birthplace of God Zeus. At 1,003 m. (3,290 ft) of altitude, this is the highest peak in the Cyclades. Head to the small mountain village of Filoti for a great meal.

SAT: ANO KOUFONISI

Welcome to paradise! The Small Cyclades is a complex of nine tiny islands only four of which are inhabited. One great way to explore Ano Koufonisi is on foot. Simply follow the path towards the stunning beaches of Fanos, Foinikas, Italida, the natural rockpools of Piscina and the exquisite bay of Pori. You will truly feel you are in a distant, exotic place. Spend the night at Pori to enjoy the silence and beautiful night sky, or head back to town for a night with the rest of the island crowd. Enjoy a drink at the scenic Sorokos bar, one of our favourites in the Cyclades.

SUN: KATO KOUFONISI

In the Small Cyclades, it’s all about switching off and forgetting the concept of time. Sailing is a perfect way to explore the outstanding beauty of this corner of the Aegean.

Koufonisi is a magical place. The roads are basic, there are no taxis or car rentals. Its combination of walks, swims, generous people and relaxed atmosphere make it easy to switch off and forget the world. Treat yourself a second day on the island to relax, swim and enjoy its vibe. Alternatively, you sail slowly towards the uninhabited Kato Koufonisi to explore its empty, wild beaches, and spend the night at our favourite bay.

MON: SANTORINI

Welcome to one of the most popular holiday destinations worldwide and the most visited of all the Greek islands. Santorini is one of the most magical places you have ever seen! The island’s spectacular topography was created after a huge volcano eruption in 17th century B.C. shaped the breath taking Caldera.

Oia is a very photogenic town of unsurpassed beauty, almost impossible to capture in words. It is best known for its breath-taking sunset. Wander around the narrow streets to admire the small white hillside houses and explore the small shops, cafes, restaurants. Get inspired by the impressive views to the caldera. Enjoy your dinner in one of the restaurants offering delicious local recipes.

TUE: SANTORINI

Today’s sailing will take you to the iconic coastal landmarks of Santorini to experience the island’s outstanding natural beauty. You will sail inside the beautiful Caldera to admire the view of Oia, Imerovigli and Fira, seemingly hanging from the sheer cliffs. You will reach the island of Kammeni, where you can walk inside the steamy volcano crater and swim in the hot, sulfur-rich sea water around the island. Hop back on board for a quick sail to the spectacular Red and White beaches to enjoy swimming in an impressive scenery. Santorini’s capital, Fira, is an ideal place to end your day with numerous corners for exploration, excellent dining options and a vibrant evening atmosphere.

WED: SANTORINI

Time to say goodbye. Until next time, of course! Check-out is by 9am today. We will help you arrange transportation to either the airport (30′ drive) or your hotel, should you choose to spend a few more days on the island.

For an extra cost, you may opt to extend your sailing trip by 3 days, visiting 2 more islands and sailing all the way back to Athens. In this case, you will arrive in Athens by Friday 8pm and check-out is by 9am on the Saturday. Talk to us to find out more about this option!
